I am now able to have chickens again! But since Cherokee wasn't raised with them, I have had a time
getting him to settle down and not do big "play postures" at the chickens.

Well, last week I told him "These are Cherokee's chickens. You need to watch them and be nice to them."

Who knew that was all it would take! He still when he first comes in the backyard is excited to see them and say "Hi!" But, now after his initial greeting, he lies down quietly and just watches them!

So glad you have chickens again! How many do you have, and what breeds. Did you reconstruct your old coop?

You might want to let them out of there and see what he does. ;) Should be a good experiment in how he reacts to chickens he can reach and may give you an opportunity to teach.

Glad you can have chickens again! :woot

Good boy Cherokee! I am so glad for you that you can have chickens again. I know you missed them so much. It's great that Cherokee is protecting them now.

I have six pullets, they should lay in Feb hopefully. 2 Golden Sex Link, 2 Australorps, 2 Easter Eggers. Yep, I put up my old coop since I took it down carefully and it is screwed together, it wasn't too hard.

Yeah.... NO.... I'd like to keep my chickens. And if Cherokee decided to play with one of them, the chicken would probably not survive. Plus we have resident hawks and and owl in our backyard.
