Last year I planted zucchini, summer squash and butternut squash. At the end of the season I let things go to seed and next year I see what sprouts up and leave it to grow. I had what I thought was a summer squash by the leaves but then a lime yellow zucchini grew. It's not over ripe, it started this color and has spots on it like zucchini- Do they cross breed?

Yes, they do. If they were growing within pollination proximity to each other than yes they will cross pollinate.

Try it, you might come up with something you like. If not. Nor harm, right?

If you don't want them to cross pollinate then you can hand pollinate and then tie a brown paper bag and panty hose around it to prevent cross pollination.
