What are you doing for Thanksgiving dinner?

Suicidal Turkey?

On Thanksgiving day this young Turkey walked down the hill (from our neighbor) and hung out in the parking lot all day With Thanksgiving activities going on inside the building!

It was still there today so i took this picture.

we have large flocks of them around here at times. Mom commented that the other day there were three different flocks in someone's yard. then she said that she was surprised that they'd not been in the fields around us yet, but since one of them had only recently been harvested they'd not yet gotten to it. they will find it eventually, corn is one of their winter forage foods. the field across the road from that one is also corn and not yet harvested but now with this cold weather and snow probably will be done within the next few weeks (once they're sure the ground is frozen enough). so that will also likely get some turkey action going too in time.

and for those who don't know what a flock can look like or how many, i've counted 70 or more of them at a time in a flock with most of them being smaller females and only a half dozen to dozen larger males. of course the first year males will not be that big and then they leave the flocks in the spring...
