What can I do

with this decking material? I thought I'd use it to go around my garlic bed to keep the mutts out, but I think it's too big and would block a lot of sun. Now I'm stuck with it and don't know what to DO with it. Any suggestions? There are several panels and posts.

I love bits of old railings and fencing... You could take a piece and set it up as a background for a garden. How about some climbing plants on it? Morning glories, etc? You might be able to work it in as a decorative element with your chain link. I use posts like that in the corners of my garden, with anti-rabbit fencing in between. You will think of something- it is too cute to throw away!!

Definately a great find! I was thinking a similar thing to what lesa said. Maybe take off the slats and use it like a frame with some chicken wire. That way it keeps the dogs out, but lets in the light, and you could have things climb up if you wanted to .

Could you stand it upright to make a teepee for your green beans?

I doubt it would block enugh sun to bother garlic. I've grown good garlic in pretty shady places.

I like the idea of a garden backdrop! Ninnymary - too heavy for a teepee and hoodat, if I don't necessarily have to take the slats off. . . Hmmmm, I think I will use it then for my garlic.

I would use it to grow vines up! I have some left over fencing I grew beans up this summer and another piece I grew and tied melons too! So useful that stuff is!!!

Id put it up at the North end of the garden, and let vines go up it. Something pretty to attract pollinators. Or if you grow alot of cukes, ice box melons, it would be strong enough to support them for sure.
