OK you guys, now you did it! I agree that some store bought things aren't worth bringing home when compared to home made. So now I'm going to look for some huMMus recipes and try to make it. I had no idea what was in that little container. But whatever, it sure wasn't good. :p

There is a store out here that sells white bean hummus. It is delicious! YUM. I suppose if you are the adventurious type, you can make it in many different ways. But the garbanzo bean is the basic, classic way.

Home made is so good! Here's what I put in mine, just whirl it all up in the food processor. I don't know how much of each ingredient, I just wing it. The garlic gets more pungent with time, so start light on your first batch

Canned chick peas
fresh garlic
olive oil
fresh squeezed lemon juice
sesame oil
sesame seeds
salt
pepper
chives
parsley
cayenne
dried ground chipotle
paprika
cumin

We usually have this for a light dinner with warmed pitas triangles, feta cheese, tomatoes, really good olives, and a glass of good red wine.

Now I have to have this for dinner tonight!

Thanks everyone. I made a recipe that vfem sent to me ad it was very good. But I have to admit that I stole some of the roasted squash to munch on while I was making the hummus. And YES home-made is soooo much better than the packaged store stuff. Thanks vfem, I really appreciate it :) .

Ok Vfem, PLEASE SHARE!!! I would love to try your recipe!

I love hummus! I make it with chili sesame oil instdead of tahini, for a little spice and because I always have that on hand... Sometimes I add roasted red peppers to the mix, YUM!! I just dip pita bread, chips or in a desperate pinch flour totillas... I think I'm gonna have to go make some now...

I do
canned chick peas,
lemon juice (fresh
chili sesame oil
olive oil
water for consistancy (careful or it will wash out the flavors)
Salt

Eat warm with chips or refridgerate for later!

Chickpeas and Olive oil. So simple, yet so delicious. I make my own but there are a lot of store bought brands out there that are excellent. I have a bunch of recipes from Food and Wine and Martha Stewart that are super simple and easy to make.
