I grow lots of basil but that one is a little bit of a puzzle to me.

The leaves don't curve back and wrinkle like the Italian basils I have.

It looks a little like a lemon or lime basil but the leaves seem too broad. How would you describe the flavor/fragrance?

I wish I could smell it, it looks like Siam Queen or Thai to me. Thai is MUCH stronger smell then the Siam.

If it was a Bonnie Bell plant, they sell Thai but I don't think Siam.

I think the leaves are too broad for thai basil. My guess is it's one of the Chinese basils. They have a great many of them. If the leaves weren't smooth edged rather than rufffled I'd say perilla.

The taste is strong, so it should be a culinary variety. Some friends think it smells citrus-ey. It doesn't remind me out that though.

It tastes sharper than normal basil. Haven't used any dried, so that might calm the taste down.
The Thai basil link said it would taste similar to licorice. I love licorice and anise so that would have been nice.
The pic I took actually does look "right". The color is light to medium green and not shiny. The flower stalks are redish, but the normal plant stems have been green.
