Sort of look like blue berries, but I don't know.

There are 3 of these bushes on our property that were here when we moved in.

Just wondering if they are edible?

As far as I can see from the photo they could certainly be blueberries (regular or rabbiteye). They at least look like some sort of Vaccinium, of which I can't think of any truly poisonous ones but please do not quote me on this :P I'd say wait til they ripen, see if they taste like blueberries, and don't eat too many at once :P

Good luck,

Pat

They look like blue berries to me. When I find a new looking berry, I usually smell it, taste it, and determine if it was worth eating. Most poisonous things will taste bad to us.... but if you get sick, don't blame me!

Looks like a blueberry shrub to me too. If you're not sure, have your least favorite relative do the taste testing.

All kidding aside, having it ID'd by whoever does that in your state is the best way to go. Ag, a university, etc. These days they will often do it by email photo....at least here.

The berries look like blueberries, but I would not suggest tasting to find out if that's correct. An email ID should let you know in time to enjoy them if they are, indeed, blueberries. :)

its definitely a vaccinium but it doesnt look like any of the ones that are native to our area. do you think they were planted?

common vacciniums growing in our area are sparkleberry, deerberry, and elliotts blueberry.

Looks like huckleberries to me!

I'd eat a couple, but then, I am a daredevil.
