Where Were You on This Date, 1972?

I was a Sophomore in High School. And um not paying any attention to the news or history in the making. :hu
(I had no idea how many of us are about the same age, too funny!)

I was 10 yrs old. In 5th grade. But I really don't remember much about that date in history. I don't think my dad watched too much of the NASA news.

Called dad last night, he's doing good and was getting ready to
Go to prison again... No he is part of a outreach program that
Goes up there 2 weekends a month and yes they do get locked up
But not with prisoners.

While we were talking asked him what was he doing December 7th 1972
Well the phone went silent for a couple seconds. I went to work
At lunch went to church and prayed for those who died at pearl harbor
Went back to work finished up drove home and you your brother and I
Sat watching the launch of Apollo 17 till late in the morning.

The following morning told you that you could stay home from school, as long as you
Stacked all the firewood, how's that for your 88 old Fathers memory.
Not bad since I forgot all about the firewood till was reminded.

Not much gets passed him..
We watched all the Apollo launches, moon landings and splash downs.

Me? I was a good 25 years or so away from being born. Ma? She was still crawling. Pa? My guess is that he was watching Steamboat Willy and eating microwavable dinner.

'Seed', you are making me feel ooolld!

I'm not sure whether to talk about "I remember when" or something right on the other side of the fence this morning . . . . . . . how about a little of both ;).

The lady across the fence is about to become a grandmother for the 2nd time. I know that her mom is gone but her mother-in-law (well, once was her m-i-law) is the same age as I am. Yes, I could easily be a g' grandpa in my own family.

Anywaaay, I can remember when  Dad (who is still around, I hasten to say :/) was talking to some guy about Sputnik going up in Earth orbit. The guy says something like, "Well, it will all depend on our children." And, they both turned and looked at me!!!!

I was just a kid! I don't think I was even shaving! Yeah, a little shaver and they were expecting me to do something about the Soviets and the Space Race!

Steve
