I am leaning toward wine, because of all the fruit we are now growing... my husband... he's a big beer drinking so now that has his attention. However, as this is mainly for gifts for people we know, the general group we run with prefer wine.
So .... 75% going with wine!

I've done both. beer and wine.
Beer making may give hubby more of an instant gratification and get him hooked on the wine making process.

I am really interested in making wine, and I am growing hops, so maybe beer. Every time I look it up, it just looks too scientific for me. I enjoy wine, but it seems all the added sulfates just give me an instant headache. Would love to make something all natural, with my fruit. Keep us posted on your progress....
