worms in my pumpkins!?!

So my pumpkins are getting like, 2 in across then turning yellow and falling off the stem. I picked one up and looked REALLY closely at the stem end and it was all mooshy brown with 2 teeny TINY little worms on it like they were eating it. Um, whats going on!?

OK after a bit of googling it doesnt look like vine borer bugs, there were teeny like you couldnt see them unless you had a magnifying glass and theres no "sawdust" from them chewing
