@majorcatfish, did you have to run back outside to take the carrot pic? Very healthy looking garden. You must be able to start growing early on in the season down there. We have at least another month before gardens up here will look like yours.

@MoonShadows @thistlebloom and I have had a little joke running all last winter about carrots. while you yankees are eating carrots grown in another country, here in north carolina we are able to grow them all winter. thanks to a little plastic ...

and no did not have to run out just waited for my friend to reply...
yes will start all the long term plants indoors to get a head start... heck waiting for the zucchini to stop producing so i can plant the brussel sprouts.
life is good living below the 35 parallel..... only 93* today and no sign of snow.....

personally i love to see everyone's gardens and see what they are growing.

it was a very interesting experiment last winter to see how long could i grow under plastic.
had lettuce and bok choi till early january
had beets, spinach, leeks till february
had carrots and green onions till spring.

will be interesting to see what and how long this winter....

I've been out alakazamin' my carrots Major, but so far they're still just little leaves.

Here is mine, from Saturday. Been getting early girls for few weeks, can't ever get heirlooms before the week of the fourth. Harvested all the broccoli and most of the cabbage. Pulled the candy onions around the first of June, not much size so I will switch to a short day next year. Dug out the potatoes hilled under straw and replanted a new one for me Caribe'. Pulled one row of snap beans and replanted 4 rows where the broccoli and beets were. And one of my favorites about 10 different varieties of winter squash to see if there is anything out there better than Waltham butternut. I grilled a young butternut that was better than any summer squash I ever had. Almost forgot, Vardaman sweet potatoe. All sheet mulched with straw, hay grass clippings and leaves. So far, no till and organic is working out great for me!

Forgot the squash pic, probably should have thinned them some! Also forgot peppers, okra, cucumbers and eggplant.
