Trivia birds can not taste hot, they don't have the taste buds. Squirrels can taste hot, so if you have a birdfeeder and don't want to feed squirrels sprinkle hot pepper on seeds.

There used to be a brand of wild bird seed that came with hot pepper powder on them, for that purpose.
And if you notice, the seed mixture for parrots sometimes has dried red peppers in the mix.
