Mammoth Sunflowers

We know we are going to have to share with our wild feathered friends, just hope they save some for us!

I wouldn't mind letting the wild birds have the seeds if I didn't have any chickens. But the chickens love to peck at the huge sunflower heads getting all of the seeds out. It gives them entertainment in the winter, and extra home grown pesticide free sunflower seeds. The protein is good for them in the winter, as there are fewer bugs to find.

Yeah, I remember that when I had chickens. lol

I do try and save a few of the smaller sunflower heads for my parrot, she loves to chew them up. But no chickens here, otherwise I would be saving more for them. Though thinking about it now the rats would love them too. I'll have to try to save a few for them. Don't know why I didn't think of that before.
