Red I once went with my best friend to her grandmothers house. Right before we got to the door she said to me " don't eat any meat" Of coruse I had to ask why, she said her neighorhood lacks any pigeons and squirrels !!

Fried squirrel is good! Never tried pigeon, but would if I had the chance. You should have eaten the meat!

People freak out at the thought of someone eating horse or donkey, but I suspect that was the original reason those animals were domesticated. It's all a matter of culture.

Depends on where you live. Horse is eaten all over Europe, as is donkey meat, which is called poopy (I swear, I'm not kidding) In fact Saucisson d' Ane (donkey meat salami) is the local specialty of the French city of Arles (the place where Van Gough did all of his painting). Its' pretty common in the North of Asia as well. Heck the Mongolians don't only eat horse meat, they drink horse milk. Traditionally that's what kumiss (fermented milk, and Mongolia's official national alcoholic drink) is supposed to be made of, though it's more commonly cow now (probably with the decrease in small family owned herds, there is a shortage of milching mares now.)

When I was little I looked in a pot on my aunt's stove, There was head of a lamb. Years later asked her about it, she called it something in Italian, said it been years since she ate it and miss it.

I used to shoot pigeons as they flew out of farmer's barns ( with their blessings) ... and they are darn TASTY. Years ago like for centuries, squab ( immature pigeon just before fledging out of the nest) was a gourmet dish for high society and more recently at the high end restaurants, even in N.Y., N.Y.

High society also eat escorgot. Squab in restaurants are meat pigeon called kings, not diseased street birds.

Well I'm just a backwoods redneck, but I've had escargot. Kinda chewy, but yummy. Doesn't make me want to scoop up garden snails for an afternoon snack though.

Right after the Viet Nam war, the Fresno ( Cal.) County Pound noticed a definite drop in stray dogs as well as missing dogs in certain neighborhoods as well an increase of the refugees coming in to the pound to get dogs. Seems that they are a delicacy item !

Yes, cousin was doing inspection work and walked into a kitchen where the men were butchering dogs several times.
