potato harvest 2014

Here are the last of the potatoes. We have used or given away about a 1/3 as many more! The table they are on is a 48 inch round with 2 leaves in it. The cup is for size comparison.

Potato planting time here is mid February, digging time end of May. When do you plant and when did you dig those?

That is a very nice harvest! Beautiful, big potatoes. Nice, really really nice!

Traditionally we plant on Good Friday (Weather permitting) then harvest up until the ground freezes. We begin taking small (new) potatoes out in June or July the big harvest usually late Sept to early Nov.

@Carol Dee , do you have any problems with potatoes dying back and then regrowing?

The (Dark Red) Norlands were about the first to go down in July, from planting in April. I don't know if that was the Norland variety I had in previous years, or not. I've just learned that there are more than one.

Any storage tips??
