Those mini's may be cute as pasture ornaments... the reality is they produce little meat, Auction yards do not want to run them through their sales ring, and if they do, they sell at a discount. Too, if the calf is just a wee bit larger for the cow to give birth, it will have to get a C- section or cut up into pieces in order to take it out or loose the cow = MAJOR $$$s going one way to the Vet.. To recoup your money , one has to find another succer to take them off your hands.

Now you are getting the idea. Good as pets only... just spend your money and don't expect any money comming back into your pocket like forever. Just try to deduct your expences on the minis on your tax return and see how far it gets you.

I have two minis. I don't expect a penny back, they aren't investments, they make me happy messing with them. And that is worth a lot more than money to me.

I am doing same thing with 4 bantams. Too old to lay, so I use them for rooster crow in AM and eat bugs in sweet corn. Plus fertilizer producers...

And those mini steaks from the aged cows will be like shoe leather ! Good for hamburgers only, more like canned pet food, that is if you like your hamburgers on the dry side from lack of fat that can come from a 90 day pampering eating a variety of fine grains with alfalfa salads.
