I know a lot will depend on if children are in the house. Do you keep your guns loaded? Where do you keep them are they locked? I have a 22, a 308 and a 12 gauge none loaded. all are in my bedroom, the ammo is in a different room. I use the 22 for target when I was able to get ammo for it. I don't have them for hunting or protection. I have them because sadly I believe we are slowly heading the way of Canada. I think guns you already own will be grandfathered, buying new ones impossible. If I go in any gun shop and ask for 22 magnum ammo I would get laughed at.

None loaded, kept wherever we last put them, which is various places in the house and we never know at any given time. We have a lot of folks coming out, grabbing a gun and popping off some rounds for target practice or to hunt(in season), so can't keep track of them sometimes. Which is kind of funny, as we only have the two old guns here.

Mostly bowhunters here, so bows aplenty, but not many guns....those are mostly for varmint killing.

:D Yes, most gun owners nowadays don't like to discuss how many and where they are kept, NY. Especially on the internet.

I'm none too worried about such things as I'm not depending on my guns to get me by in the times that are coming upon us. ;)

I will say that children should be taught gun safety. My kids had an Ithaca single shot 22 that was short barreled, for kids. They loved to shoot it. At age 8 and 4, they would stack up cans and take turns shooting them. Absolute safety was observed, as they had been taught. They had to prop the 22 against the porch before restacking the cans. Then the one whose turn it was to shoot stood in front of the one who was not shooting. Getting in front of the shooter would earn them a spanking from Mom. They loved getting a new burn barrel, as they got to shoot holes in it so rain would drain out.

I wonder why 22 mag ammo is so hard to get where you are.
I see plenty of it for sale around here.
It might cost a bit more than it did a few years ago but it's available.

There for awhile there was a run on .22 ammo around here too and it couldn't be found anywhere but that's kind of let up now. You can get it now, but it's just much more expensive.
