I got this iris a couple years ago and the guy I got it from just called it "brown iris" does anyone know the real name?

It is beautiful. I have a couple of brown ones as well. Mine were called "copper" in color. Named varieties differ from breeder to breeder or nursery to nursery, with many flowers looking much the same. I, for one, can't help with a name unless you want me to look up the copper iris's name and call it yours.

I have a whole blank of a grey and blue Iris along stream. They where there when I bought house. I had the stream dug out with a backhoe. Piles of clay sat on stream bank all winter the sun drying it into cement. I could not believe this spring when the iris started poking up through the baked clay. Dam they are tough.

Names only matter when you are paying for them. Once planted in your yard, forgetfulness takes over...... :lol:
yep, that's what happened to mine when i moved & brought a bunch to this property. now they just go by...blue...red...purple...dark purple...ummmm almost white. :p

Well, I guess we can have a "name the iris" party. @so lucky has already started it with Velvet Copper and Copper Dreams. You like copper, so I'll come up with something too.
