3 years ago I admired a plant in my friends garden, she gifted me a division. I planted it at work, you know the saying 1st year it sleeps. 2nd year it creeps, 3rd year it leaps. Well this is the 3rd year, plant is evening primrose. It is flowering away right now. Several times a day clients ask what flower it is. A few remember it from their grandparents gardens. It spread so quickly I always offer a division to people that ask about it. Do you have a plant that grabs peoples attention ?

I guess the plants that draw the most attention in my garden are the Cardiocrinums. These Giant Himalayan Lilies can grow over 10 ft. tall, I have two different varieties.

When in bloom they fill the whole garden with their perfume.

The seedpods are attractive too

These guys take 7 years from seed to flower then they die but not before producing offsets which only take 3-4 years to produce flowers.

I just put in two new Hydrangeas 'Miss Saori' last year, these have white flowers with pink picotee edges. I can hardly wait for them to bloom, the flowers are showing so it won't be long now.
Not my picture but isn't she beautiful.

Ayesha

We moved Ayesha last fall as it was right where we were putting in a new water line to the house. Actually the gal with her backhoe dug it for us, we thought we were going to lose it but as it was after it was dug we split it into three pieces, kept one and gave the other two away. I also took cuttings just in case. Just cut pieces of stem and stuck them in the ground, they rooted over the winter,

For my home, its the smoke tree. People walking by stop to wonder...

Did yours ever survive?
I've never had a smoke tree but to me they are another attention grabber, @murphysranch do you have the purple leafed one or the green? They are both so beautiful and now there's one with golden foliage I think it's called Golden Spirit. Sigh, if only I was younger and had a bigger garden.

Heck of a thread!!!!

Those are some real eye popping pictures. The only things I can brag about is my flowering plum tree.

Covered in pastel pink blooms and burgundy leaves. Still have a long way to go but I'll have some eye poppers here eventually.
