My horses have about 4 acres of pasture-not great grasses that I can tell. But my gelding is huge and a bit over weight. My Stevie was thin due to age and poor teeth, had to be on special grain, and ate 24 hours a day in the pasture. My vet said is was the pasture keeping them so robust. I always thought it was the grain. Given choice they always turned their nose up to hay.
