just a little disturbing

That's exactly what I was thinking of, Major! It's not so disturbing that a building is sinking and leaning, but much, much more disturbing that people are content to live all jammed up on one another with all that concrete around them, not a green field in sight. I'd truly rather be dead than be forced to live like that, so a leaning building isn't that frightening when you look at the larger picture.

Yet they feel pity for us simple country bumpkins.

I think it's more a bit of sour grapes towards us country bumpkins...you don't see many of us heading off to the city for vacations, but where do city folks want to go? Out of that blasted hole of a city! Out to the country, the beach, the mountains...anywhere but there. They tend to make much fun of country folk but they know we've got it good, so it's pretty much sour grapes.

But...that's the beauty of diversity, I suppose. There are those who could only feel content in the city and those who could only feel content in the country, so it's nice that each have their place to be, a place they call home.

Seems to be a lot of generalizations going on...
we have members here that live in the city, or at least not out in the boonies, and I don't pick up any sour grapes or attitudes of superiority or contempt from them...:hu

having lived in a couple large citys over the years, could not adjust to that life style, stop lights on every corner. guess it takes a special type of person to live there... my hat is off them..
