After a cold, wet, miserable spring we are finally at the point that plants can go in the garden. After hardening off aubergine that was in the greenhouse I planted them in raised beds today along with a few pepper plants. Our season is so short I could not consider growing aubergine were it not for the greenhouse.

Those are fantastic seedlings. Mine are fuzzy leaved-must be a different variety.

Today I washed and disinfected the interior of the greenhouse, mixed enough potting soil for the Autopots, and planted six tomato plants on one side of the greenhouse. Tomorrow I will tackle the other side of the greenhouse, but for now, I am ready for a nice nap.

Do you grow any tomatoes outdoors? The ones I have grown indoors have not been very good. Variety or autopots?

Tomatoes were hardened off and planted the day before yesterday, they have flowers and some have small fruit already. Rather than one large garden we have several small gardens where space permits and lighting is adequate. I have grown some excellent tomatoes indoors during the winter in autopots. It is a hassle though, and they need a LOT of light, I mean a lot of light to get good tomatoes. In actual fact, they tasted as well or better than summer tomatoes. The people who worked with my son were amazed when they tried them. It was such a chore I only did it once though. Sorry about the quality of the photo as it was nearly dark when I took it.

The greenhouse tomatoes are Tropics developed for Florida, I also plant some in the garden and they do well there also. Here is a photo of last year's first greenhouse pick. Hopefully, we will have our first before the fourth of July. I doubt that the autopots affect the quality of the tomatoes, they simply automate watering and feeding. It is the media and nutrients, but mainly the heat and LIGHT that work their magic, and, of course, my helper tapping the blossoms to ensure pollination.
