I am not sure what is going on with my nephew, but I am sure a girl is involved some how. He wanted chickens to sell eggs, then he wanted to grow pumpkins for sale, now bees for honey. I turned off my phone last night he was txing and calling about getting bees. At lest bees are some thing I wanted. I told him before I would even think about it he had to complete Bee Keeping classes. I have a bee farm going in right across the street, would I even be able to keep a hive ? Nephew thinks bees will always return to their queen

yikes... he is a dreamer.

YES have him take the bee keeping class 1st. It is NOT a cheap hobby either. The bees are NOT free, then you need, the super, frames, bee suit, smoker, equipment to draw the honey out of combs, supplement feeding, medications, etc... LOTS of work. (And messy) How will he handle bee stings. (Even with a bee suit stings happen.)

I am glad you have the bee farm going in close. If they want o put a hive on your property and tend it. Go for it. A win - win and they might even give you some honey for allowing it to be in your yard. :)

I'll lay you that if he enrolls, he'll never finish. Has he ever finished a project?

Over the years I have paid for about 7 or 8 classes/ programs he does finish. Everything from Bar tending school to wielding classes. Problem is after taking classes he decides he doesn't like. I believe in education so dont mind paying for classes.

May be cheaper in the long run... not buying a bunch of supplies that will never get used.

Carol I might ask him to talk to you. Someone who knows first hand how much work they are. At least with Bee i don't have to worry about animal abuse charges if he does feed them, unlike chickens
