ALMOST LOST.

When I first started hybridizing daylilies, I cold not bring myself to compost the inferior plants that I had created. Yikes! It started with a seed! So I created an uncared for row of plants left to fend for them selves…just in case. As I was finally going to let them go I found this lovely face amongst the ugly ducklings. I saved it and placed it in a seedling bed. It seemed to be lost for a long time except in my memory. Last summer it had finally grown into a giant clump and many people asked about it. I only had the one plant so they were told they had to wait. Don’t let this photo fool you . ALMOST LOST is a velvety deep purple, with a green throat, and a white strip on the mid rib. Oh, so, lovely in the garden.
Another truly lovely day lily.

A hummingbird warmed itself this morning on an opening daylily at TomCat Daylily Farm.

Are these plants you purchased or did you propagate them yourself? Love the variety and colors!
