i have one coming up and since i've not been to one before what can i expect?

what should i bring?

so far i'm planning on taking pretty much everything i can which will include:

- a few amaryllis bulbs

- cosmos

- squash seeds
- golden flax seeds
- onions (a few types of seeds)

- peas (a few dozen kinds)
- beans (a few hundred kinds)

can i expect people to bring their own containers or bags? there's no way i can make little baggies of all the ones i have nor do i really want to. plus for some i won't really have that many seeds to give out (i'm still building up quantities of some crosses as they are too new).

i was also going to print out a few dozen small pieces of paper with my name and e-mail address on them along with the web site so if there are any followup questions or whatever i can get things done that ways.

I have never heard of such a thing... how FUN!

I attend a few 'chicken swaps' and I would suggest:
Have some sort of CLEARLY VISIBLE sign saying what you've got & prices. Even something a little general like: BULBS $x.00 - $y.00 each - VEGITABLE SEEDS $x.00-$y.00/package - FLOWER SEEDS $x.00-$y.00 per pack
I would think that pre-packaged sets would be MUCH easier than trying to count out seeds to each customer. A box of self-sealing envelopes would work.
YES! To the contact info. Lots and Lots! Give to EVERYONE and if there is something unusual about your booth, note that on the back. Like "table in the corner with the red cover" or "lady with the old poodle in the basket". When you hand the cards out, point out the note and say "Don't forget me"

it is a swap/buy/sell so i'm not really planning on being paid for anything, but we'll see what happens. i don't want to deal with cash/change and all that. mostly i'm doing it as a social event to meet a few people i've only talked with via e-mail so far.

i'm not doing this as a business. :)

here is link to info for anyone else who might be interested:

oh, cool, John Coykendall will be there. that wasn't on the site last time i looked. :)

I went to a very casual one. We all ended up passing around what we had, taking what we wanted and sending the rest on. One lady tried to walk up and down a dicker with us for her seeds. Maybe that's how it's normally done?

I got some great stuff from it, and everyone liked my seeds too! :)

i'm hoping to give away a lot because i can use the shelf space. :)

for some people i'm sure it all about dickering and being social.

i'll need a cape of a thousand pocketses...

This seed swap ..

. happened ..

. several weekends ago?

Steve

no, it is coming up this Sunday.

i've just moved the rest of my bean collection (not counting the eating beans) into the living room and took a picture of the mayhem. gotta get them organized better and consolidated so i can bring them with me. most of the containers are the same type (1 quart yogurt containers) so they can be stacked together to conserve space. i might be able to get everything into 3-4 boxes.

Mom commented last night that we sure have eaten a lot of yogurt. :)
