after 50

I don't do those tests. They always ask and I always refuse them. I refuse them for my mother as well...they really push those tests on the oldsters, don't they?

Colon cancer is a horrible painful death.
Agree...watched my mother die from it. Worse than me having a burst appendix. No reason IF you take your exam as a slow, easy to control disease.

Colon cancer is a horrible painful death.

I'm a nurse and my last nursing job was as a hospice nurse. I'm well aware of all manners of death in all its aspects. ;)

Fear tactics won't work on me, I'm fully ready for death and anything that goes along with it. Even if I knew I had CA, I wouldn't be taking any treatments for it, so why do the testing? Useless in that regard.

I talked with my brother the other day.

Twenty plus years after colon cancer surgery and treatment ... I asked how he is.

Bro said, "Doing good!"

My soon to be ex has had three colonoscopies. Each time they find polyps and scrape them out. He's over due now for two years. Hope he remembers.

You're not gonna remind him...are ya? :hide

Orrrrrrrrrrrr.......you could send him a card...'happy Colonoscopy Day Reminder"!!! :ya:ya:ya

Not fear tactics at all. Reality. You know your risks and are willing to accept whatever. In end, that’s what we all want. I’d rather go gardening over dying a slow painful death of CC.

i don't wish a painful death upon anyone, but i also honor the wishes of those i care for. Mom has made her wishes known to me and things are in writing so i'll do my best by her too.

It is kind of odd, though, how doctors will continue to push tests and preventative therapies on people who already have both feet in the grave. At some point, you have to say "Leave me alone and let me go!"
