skipper is gone he got another job at another retreader...feel sorry for them once they truly find out what a bullsh!t artist he is ...

as for gilligan he is a good hearted soul will do just about anything for anyone, he is easily sidetracked, can talk to you to death about what he found at an estate sale. will interrupt you while talking...
but he is a good second pair of hands when needed.....

all i can do is start at one end and work my way around the buildings.. sure there are going to be things that will needed to be outsourced..

looking forward to having the all manager/supervisor meeting next week, kind of nice having the ball in my corner for a change...< and on paper>

The industrial maintenance world needs "Gilligan's", but they don't really need to be left in charge to run things. I have a few myself, but they know their limitations and learned long ago, you'd much rather call me and ask a dumb question than have me come in and see you made a dumb decision on your own.
You were wise to get the "on paper", Before I took this job, my position would answer directly to the plant manager. During my negotiations, I made stipulations that I would answer directly to the General manger, and the maintenance supervisors and their direct reports would answer to me, and they agreed. A Lot less hoop jumping to get what I needed when I need it. I basically have my own department inside the division. Anything involving plant maintenance, I have a hand in it.
Sounds like your going to be more in control of the Plant maintenance there, you already know this but taking care of the little things prevent bigger problems. And get some sort of work order system in place for the operators, sort of a way for them to let you know what's going on with the machines. No doubt 90% will be BS but I have learned out of 100 work orders, 10 of them prevented something that could have been major downtime. Keep up the good work!

just got back from greensboro turning in my rehire paperwork, talk about killing a tree it's only been 20 years but i dont remember that much paperwork!!!!

guess i'm officially an employee again
the hr person asked if i needed a employee handbook....
why? i have broken every rule thats in there..:lol:

omg.. what did i do to deserve this nightmare.. after talking with some of the employees found out that "skipper" sat in the maintenance office all day and made gilligan do all the work,he did not try to repair just ordered new tools/equipment. had a pile of mess mash of equipment parts missing on everyone of them.
manuals/ repair diagrams missing....grrrrrr
went around to every station and asked whats broken? every operator pointed out, this or that has been broken going back 4 months,etc everyone mentioned thank goodness your back fat boy never did nothing.. did have one employee get a little hostile, had to put him in his place real quick.!!!!
needless to say have 2 pages of things that need to be done some major, some minor. not as bad as i thought it would be...<so far> still waiting on Gilligan to say by the way....:he.

on a high note the owner did follow though with one of my demands....dont know what i'm going to do with 5000 of them.
