I usually check in every day (I have no life-semi retired with kids gone). I expect, no demand, that someone post every day something about gardening that interests me. We have members who are on the other side of the world gardening. Southerners who garden year round. Bay and her hairless sheep and young pup. Need I go on? Get with the program! Don’t make me post another complaint on here........

ummm....OK. Here's a question for ya that is gardening related..

I've purchased some perennials on clearance at Lowes for $1 each. They've been sitting on a table out back and since we've got no rain, I've had to soak them cus they dry up. I'm thinking of bringing them into my sunny sitting room for the winter. I won't be planting them until next spring when I get approval to remove the front grass and go for a slightly better than zero scape look. Will it be detrimental to them to keep them in that room all winter?

What do you want to bet he bellyaches about this. I just took these for HIS benefit. Just because it's him I left my Kale off of this. Dang Yankee.

Cabbage, Cauliflower, and Broccoli

Greens 11 9.jpg

Mustard Greens in the front, some tiny Chard, then Turnip Greens, then something hidden in the back I can't remember. It's rough getting old. Oh, yeah, lettuce. I'll have turnip greens for supper tonight.

I'll have these radishes for lunch pretty soon.

Tomato 11 9.jpg

I doubt these tomatoes will survive the light freeze next Tuesday night.

Well thank you very much.....leaving cardboard off of a gardening site and you want praised......dang pea picker....oh yes, bless your heart.

@Rhodie Ranch Now see you could have started a whole thread on this. I would have found that interesting.... what to do with the plants. What other plants you could have bought on clearance (with pix). How you are going to re do front yard. Unlike @Ridgerunner who is flaunting his weather and garden, that is of great interest.....

Is it so hard to start threads that I like?

Ps @Ridgerunner , spare us some of your warm weather as the west is sending us snow-which we did NOT ask for.....

Depending on if they need winter chill and complete dormancy I see no problem with your plan. You should be aware that you might also be bringing in pests.

I get the idea that you wouldn't be bringing them in for survival, hardy perennials can overwinter outdoors in their pots just fine, but more for the pleasure of their company.
