I used to think that geese would be a near perfect farm animal. Their feed can be nearly the same as a ruminant with pasturing and some grain.

Not sure what I was basing their meat value on. I have eaten geese a few times - wild and domestic. Every one was kinda scrawny.

Anyway, I have several times filled in on chores for a friend's poultry flock. The geese had absolutely despicable personalities.

They are. For anyone that wants cheap meat, they are your animal. Plus great watch guards. Might depend upon breed as to amount of meat. I hated butchering them. Plus, they step, crap. Step, crap. Step, crap.
