@Beekissed I am of the opinion that we are all individuals, so don't dislike anyone because of where they are from. What I do pass judgement on is the nature of of a person. A few examples of what I could dislike in a human, aggressiveness, selfishness, greed, ego maniacs or boastful.. I have met a few decent Americans and hopefully will get to know a few more in here, even if it's only online ;) . I've not really noticed that people here in uk have really objected to Americans, but sadly I have come across racism & avoid these people as much as possible.

Even among the sister site forums, this is the nicest one with the nicest folks. Very helpful, kind to a fault and like a big family....I think you'll like it here. We really love talking to people from different parts of the world, as it's just really cool and it builds our knowledge base here.

Backyard Chickens forum is fun but there are so many members, one tends to get lost in the shuffle. This one has fewer members, and we are able to get to know each other. Marie2020, do you have your spring planting in? Do you have a garden allotment, or a back yard?
I think I would do better with a smaller yard and garden. I would love to have a walled garden or at least an alley or breezeway to decorate. As it is, we just have a big expanse of green lawn, with a few trees here and there. My DH views everything I plant or change as more work for him to mow around, so it doesn't take too many years of that to change my way of doing things.
And, to be truthful, I remember my mom putting things out in her yard with no rhyme or reason--just a sprig of forsythia there and a rose cutting under a mason jar here, in the middle of a green lawn patch. It did make for a trying time to mow.

Restrictions here are getting even more unbearable, even the easy going are getting fed up with all the rules, it's kind of like living in a very strict school. The heads and teachers can do as they like but us children/old age pensioners must be good and do exactly as we are told. :bow

I don't think I could TOLERATE gardening in a country than runs on a whitelist system of what you can and you can't plant. Half the FUN for me in gardening is getting random unidentified seed from unusual places and seeing what comes up. The be told what species I am allowed to grow, still less what VARIETIES would be maddening. And to have the rules for approval basically say that to get the OK it pretty much has to be genetically perfectly uniform goes against everything I feel about landraces.

Only a back garden. There's fencing to be fixed and some to be erected. My chickens cleared every blade of grass so had to start again from scratch, it has caught really well and right now is over grown so planting is not done at all around here. My nieghbor has planted blue borage, I'm ashamed to say I have never heard of this plant before. So I hope to collect some seeds off their plants as the flowers wither, I read the leaves are good to eat and can have some medicinal qualities plus chickens can eat it to. With the lockdown any garden help just been put on hold so I'm afraid waiting is the name of the game here still. My head is just planning what to do here and staying positive. ☺

It's getting that way here, slowly but surely. Especially now with the WHO calling the shots on disease protocols instead of our own country governing with some common sense.
Common sense must have gone down the drain. All I am seeing is complete chaos and hearing confusing information.

I'm thrilled to have found you all. Maybe by next year I will have a half decent garden to be proud of 🌺

Silly question, when you are asleep with eyes closed, how do you know sun is out? (from someone who can always sleep day or night.)
I must have very thin eyelids because I'm awake the minute light comes through any gap of my curtains
