A history of humanure:

So Nitrous Oxides are the 3rd most effective greenhouse gas behind methane and CO2. Released from microbial attack and oxidation of nitrogen fertilizer. Charts show advanced rates climbing with modern fertilizer usage.

We compost our household poop, lol! It's at our off grid property though, not our main home. We will let it compost for two years before we use it.

i wish i had a safe enough place to do it, but this place won't work for it at all. just too much water around. :(

the composting i can do is food/paper scraps and worm composting. i'm just restarting some of my worm buckets up after they were used out in the gardens during planting season. with a lot of strawberries coming in lately and having scraps from putting those up i have a lot of goodies for the worms so i need to get them back up and going.

I forgot to say I throw in wood chipping/chicken offerings too. This really helps my compost.

Would you believe an entire civilization, the indians that created the soil called Terra Preta, did the exact same thing? Their topsoil was 30-35 feet deep when we discovered what they had created over so many generations.
