Oregano how invasive?

I don’t find it that bad. If left unattended, I could see it. What doesn’t if left unattended?

I have always been one to love "free" plants. As in letting volunteers stay. By the time I realized my error it was overgrown. I still need to pull it like a weed in one of my beds.

and don't ever confuse it for penny royal because that stuff is fun to take out too.

I thought allowing volunteers (& watching them change to weed status) was the garden curse. Guess I’m wrong.....,

Oregano is invasive, but that's if you forget about it for a few years. It will VERY EASILY reseed itself and spread and I think it makes for a great ground cover, fragrant and easy to pull out. Mine took over my "herb bed", but it isn't like weeds that cannot be pulled out. You can control it. I forgot about mine, except looking at it, and it has taken some time to jump the cement border, but I'm pretty sure that it was the seeds that grow outside of it. It will give some weeds a run for their money.
I would recommend planting oregano around other vegetables.

I let mine spread as a ground cover in my herb beds, every spring I dig up the clumps I don't want and that seems to maintain it well enough. Now mint, woof....I use it as ground cover as well, but there's no real maintaining except trimming.

I use oregano so much in my recipes that it never spreads far! Im always happy when plants are hardy and grow fairly quickly like that.

I love both it and the mint though they probably need repotted. They haven’t threatened to die on me yet! This pic is a few weeks old and it’s much bigger now. I’ll try to get updated pic in the morning.

Now basil is a tough plant for me to grow. It does much better when it's super hot. We don't get much of that kind of weather in the Pacific Northwest. I have finally managed to get some started!
