Unanswered mystery

If you look on that map, just south of the white circle, you see an area called Speedwell. My parents and grandparents were born and raised in Speedwell. Not sure how many generations lived there. I was born and raised about 20 miles west of Cumberland Gap in the Powell Valley. The photos on both videos of those look really familiar.

Thanks for posting those Marie.

if you enjoy dialect and examples of old-time ways of doing things the Foxfire series of books is well worth the wander. :)
I just took a quick look into fox fire.

If you lived in the outback somewhere these books would be invaluable, they are anyway :)

I like his southern accent. Lots of different southern accents, every region or state puts their own twist on their speech. I have a southern accent, but with a Texas drawl.

Ah cain't git away with nuthin'. People recognize mah voice every durned time. LOL

If you notice the section where he talks about how they say "far" instead of "fire". I remember my niece wanting me to push her on the "barl". She had to show me, I couldn't figure it out. They'd hung a 55 gallon drum on a rope to use as a swing. She wanted to be pushed on the barrel. That little girl is now a grandmother and managing a CVS. Marie, CVS is a pharmacy chain, probably just here in the US.

I'm wondering what these lights are?
It has to be something that can be explained. Like ruddy big glow worms.

Anyone have any thoughts on these
