Hello fellow plant and garden lovers!
This weekend I gathered some sheep sorrel and put some of the leaves on our chicken sandwiches! Yum, they were so good, we ate them before I snapped a picture!

Just go easy. Sheep Sorrel (like all sorrels) has a LOT of Oxalic acid in it, and can do real damage to you kidneys if you consume too much at once ( I think it can also turn into calcium oxalate in the body, i.e. the stuff kidney stones are made of.)

Thank you for the info! My foraging book mentions not to eat it in large quantities also. However it is very tasty to mix in a little and add a touch of flavor to your recipe! The fresh leaves taste like mustard to me!

Dahlia, I was thinking about the dandelion roots I roasted and ground last year (Wondering how they would be if mixed with the dried fig that I've used before to reduce caffeine in coffee ;).)

I came across a new edition of Bradford Angier's, How to Eat in the Woods. It brought tears to my eyes and ... I thought of you and your foraging ;).

DS tells me that the trees are beginning to bloom in Portland.

:) Steve

Oh I love foraging! I love to learn about new wild plants! I want to learn more about red laver this year! We make sushi from time to time and it would be great to make our own nori!
