Coffee & oatmeal-my normal. Wife found a bag of 8 O’Clock coffee beans for around $15 so I’m good for a while. Bag size is now 30:Oz instead of 33 Oz. Fresh ground is so much better.

Had to buy some 1X2’s for work.....man are they small. Really 1/2” by 1 1/4. Wish they would use the correct measurements and just price them where they need to price them. House that uses new 2X4’s would be real unstable. Since a 2X4 is really a 1X3.

It all depends upon the type of wood. We are all buying fast growing pine, developed by the lumber industry AND by the paper industry. Trees that grow faster, and are less dense. Trees very much like the weed tree, "tree of paradise."
Look at popular 18th century furniture, made with carved spindles that Look like kindling. They aren't They were cut/carved from hardwoods, like oak, maple, walnut, cherry, birch, poplar, reall Dense woods that can handle stress.
Every southern yellow pine is much denser than the 2 x 4's you just bought.
My father was in the paper industry (later also in the plastics industry.) I learned about cheaper less dense wood decades ago.
The paper industry started in the 1970's planting trees to replace clear cut areas.
It was very much like vanishing old world forest trees that built, "Old Ironsides," the WOODEN Revoluntionary War ship that repelled British cannonballs.

Anyone have a homemade cocoa mix recipe? I want to make a batch anf keep it at school when the craving for a warm drink takes over

Maybe in 2010 or so, @hoodat told me that ladybugs migrated. I found that astounding. He said that they travel all down the West coast. Of course, he went on, they do go thru several generations as they migrate.

Well, for the first time ever, I can see that here. Three days ago dozens and dozens of ladybugs arrived. They congregate on my West facing deck and several have entered the house. I wonder how they are making it thru the cold nights? It was 29 last nite. Wonder when they will leave?

i read the directions on the package and they say to boil them until they are clear (see through) and then drain them. how you use them after that is up to the recipe so what do you want to make with them?

since i'm not used to using such large tapioca chunks or that type i really am not sure, as to me with the smaller ones i make i use eggs but the recipe i just looked at doesn't have any eggs in it so it is up to you to what you can do with them.

personally, what do you like for tapioca pudding? with or without eggs? with or without vanilla? with or without spices? it seems there are plenty of recipes out there on youtube so you can look through them and see what meets your likes.

i guess one way to go would be to make your favorite plain vanilla pudding recipe and then when it is done stir in the vanilla and cooked tapioca pearls.

Thanks my friend I'm going to start this tomorrow. I just can't wait to eat this pudding.

My aunt used too soak them but I cannot remember if it was hot or cold water 🤔

I just use the natural coco power in water and milk then add honey. Imo that's better than the mixed instant I used to buy.

Those look like the type used for bubble tea. Not sure what else they are good for as I’ve never used that type.

I'm still going to make a nice big yummy pudding out of mine 😋

Good Morning!

Fell asleep after my 4am breakfast. Before dozing off, I was deep in the weeds of word meanings and origins. Or, just skimming the surface. I remember so few words from one language's dictionary.

Woke myself up talking. I was talking to an elderly lady at a library. She had joined a group of us as we were sitting around in the more comfortable chairs seemingly, with some point in our being there. I had the idea that she was a regular library patron.

After some friendly small talk, she asked why we were all there.

I struggled to say that I was interested in words and it was a good choice of places to be .

Easy as pie to know why we were hobnobbing. Hobnob. I'd checked on the etymology of that word just before dozing off. It is from gathering to have drinks: First, I have (hob). Then, I have not (nob). Ha! Pour yourself another cup!

I read that ladybirds are great for keeping nasty bugs off our house plants
