We went to the Lufkin zoo yesterday. Admission for the 3 of us was $14. The walkways are shady, plenty of places to sit and enjoy.
Peacocks roam the zoo at will. They are beautiful and add to the zoo experience.
There were even 2 white ones.
There are observation decks, covered, with tables and chairs. This was the observation deck for the rhino, but the girls were more excited to see the line of turtles.
We had lunch, then went to the Texas Forestry Museum. Admission was free, they took donations, so I put a donation in the jar.
There was a mock up of a saw mill house. Men used to work at the mill, and could rent a house, basically a shack. The girls loved playing in it. There were even costumes hanging on pegs on the wall.
Wood heater and cook top.
Tending the baby and doing the ironing.
Mule drawn log skidder.
We went outside. There was old equipment they could climb on, even an old steam locomotive and caboose. The caboose was open and we went in. There was a small place to stand in the locomotive.
Log skidder.
They climbed all over everything out there like 2 monkeys. There was a nature walk trail and we did that too.
Went to Walmart to get hot dogs and fixin’s for the now 8 year old’s birthday campfire hot dog cook out Friday evening. Then home, playing with dogs and sheep until time to go in. We had a fun day.
