Butterfly Weed is such a striking shade of orange which is not a common color of flowers.

Also both of these fit easy gardening motto as once you get them planted and growing they mostly take care of themselves. In the right spot they will flower each season. I've never fertilized or watered them. Just a bit of weeding from time to time when the grasses try to invade. Hummingbirds love the Red Lucifer.
I have the butterfly weed. Now I WANT/NEED the Red Lucifer!

Doing yard clean up last weekend (the never ending project) when something caught my eye under the dogwood/hickory/oak... I've never seen them before, and since the deer mowed them down the next day, may never see them again. Indian Pipe, according to the plant ID app.
Congrats @GottaGo - your beautiful pic is this week's POW winner and is featured on our homepage! :weee

Must be rarer in the Midwest. I used to see them all of the time, even in my own yard. When I was in Long Island on a school trip I saw some MONSTER ones (as in about two or three feet tall!" but those were probably a fluke.
