Thank you all for your good wishes. This morning I am feeling much better, so much so that I was able to start a small germination test. In my bedroom I found an empty plastic quail egg carton, and then I realized that all of my tomato seeds are in the bedroom too-- so seven kinds of early cold-tolerant tomato seeds are now starting to hydrate. It's nice to have something fun to focus on, since I have quite a few more days of sitting in this room.

Good morning y’all. Coffee is ready, I’m on my second cup. It’s pouring rain, started about 3:30 AM. The road I live on is dirt, mixed with rock. It’s gonna be sloppy today. We already got an inch of rain a few days ago. But I’m not complaining, the pounds on my place are still 3 or 4 feet low. The summer heat and drought had them down to puddles, hopefully they will fill back up before summer hits again.

It’s pouring rain
And, I guess that's the storm that will bring some of you in the US South and along the Eastern Seaboard lots of rain. And, for you folks a little inland, it will be snow.

Snow for us here tomorrow, also. The local WS is also beginning to make some predictions regarding late next week. Finally, some Winter temperatures! It's not that I'm anxious to have the cold but waking up to above freezing temperatures at this time of year is somewhat disturbing. Right now is normally our coldest week of the year.

Perhaps, I'm ready for some brighter days with snow on the ground and the sun in a blue, January sky above. bbrrrrr! Well, I guess so ;).

Steve, enjoying some delicious kabocha squash pie and this strange mango herb tea DD gave me for Christmas

sounds like a good plan. there's a lot of stuff going around right now so you could have picked it up and perhaps you're not showing some symptoms but still have it... Mom was under the weather for a while and i didn't really feel as bad as she did, just a bit of crud in the throat and that was about it.
I hope you and your mother are feeling better. Whatever I have is very mild.

I probably should have tested for covid, but I never had a fever or really any symptoms of that. DS is not sick and has been around me all this time. DD thought she was catching something. Wesley has had a fever and symptoms of a cold, but he has not been around me. I just do a few things and then feel kind of weak or tired. I cough very rarely and a little something in chest or throat when I do. I guess some kind of virus. the weather is going to turn really cold next week and I sure hope I am over this by then.

:frow No snow ... yet. (Good thing DS wasn't flying out of Portland last night ✈️ – news!)

Crispix and banana in the bowl, Mandarin oranges on the side, oolong in the cup, Saturday's vitamin :). We have to eat these oranges! Peelings are in the dehydrator on the kitchen table.

I just can't be satisfied with the store-bought orange zest, although there is some of that in the herb tea kettle. Ya know, it may be psychological but how much of taste is in the thoughts of the consumer? I gave that dried lemon verbena a good test. Flavor is supposed to be stimulating and it just didn't have enuf of that :(. Those Leaves leave me without a store-bought alternative to a favorite but I can get-by with alternative zestiness :), fortunately.

An Amazon commercial was just on the teevee. A young lady is uncomfortable in her big city apartment. She moves in lots of plants to gain comfort. Balcony is a jungle. Girl, that's me! Psychological.

Funny, we have 3 inches of snow from last night. Won't last though...
Got up this morning too early, so I finished my pressure canning.
DH got up briefly and ordered biscuits to go with the cans of sausage gravy.
Canning is finished, 2 crockpots making turkey broth (from bones in the porch freezer, now getting cleared out,), turkey now fully defrosted for tomorrow's dinner, that I was volunTOLD to make.
I am about to feed the ponies. I will keep them inside for awhile.
The extension cord for my hooked on the blue heated hose was working. I replaced it, and, fingers crossed, it is now working.
I put my blue heated hose away last winter and it Was working.
Red one works and that is the one hooked up to the faucet.
When it dips down to 5 degrees above 0 fahrenheit, the both freeze up but it's best to not touch them until it warms up.
No forecast for that cold...yet.
Coffee keeps going to the microwave for reheating. DH likes his strong. I always water mine down.
Biscuits were a little bit dry, but that works for gravy.

Good Morning. We were out and about yesterday along with way too many people. Depleted necessities between Christmas and New Years, I'm guessing. The weather was sprinkley and a little windy and cold, seemed like a "good" time to catch something unhealthy. @Branching Out , I hope you are feeling better and @Gardening with Rabbits and family!

The very special oolong and hot oatmeal with raisins, honey and butter - apple and persimmon on the side - for breakfast. Thinking about healthy, vitamin rich foods, re the recent Seed Saver posts. Weren't we told in the teevee ads that the C is in the orange juice ;)? Maybe it is ... :)

Steve
I've gone crazy for porridge in the jar. I made some up last night with apple and cinnamon but tonight I'm adding both banana and apple.
I add chia flax and linseed too my mix with honey. Adding yogurt it's extra yummy but I've had a chest infection for weeks so I'm not adding that for now.
