I get to build an enclosure for the chickens and then I have to figure out how to keep the dogs out of my garden. I have to plant my tomatoes and peppers in a different area than the rest of the garden. I'm glad I didn't tell my husband to fill in the other garden area I used a couple of years ago.

Keep your dogs out of your garden try a small electric fence does the trick it even keeps the horses in the pasture. But there are several smaller types of elec fences for dogs .or there are collars that help train dogs …not to enter areas or bark etc. It is a good reminder to train dogs. Not harmful and is a light little reminder tiny surprise shock doesn’t hurt believe me I have hit a few times. But it is a good reminder not to enter … you can turn it on / off after the pups hit it once usually is all it takes. It’s,a bit startling. Just offering a choice that works around my garden after trying many other alternatives.

Now if I could set up an underground electric gizmo to keep the gopher and moles , voles…. Well you know the drill…

You might just use some small fenceposts, build you walls with chicken wire, and make a gate. No electricity needed and most dogs aren't likely to jump inside of your enclosure.

This dog doesn't have a good enough sense to stay out. I have scolded her spanked her and she still does everything she's not supposed to do. She got into my potato bed and destroyed my dandelions. It's very frustrating to have to deal with a dog that doesn't get the message regardless of what you do about the bad behavior.

I just transplanted my vining plants to the garden. I put 2 in the potato bed 2 in the small metal bed 3 in the pot with the sweet potatoes and 1 in the stairstep bed. Oh and 1 in between the blackberry bushes. I hope they produce plenty of fruit. I'm getting hungry just thinking about grazing in the garden

...It's very frustrating to have to deal with a dog that doesn't get the message regardless of what you do about the bad behavior.

i'm not into cruel behaviors but sometimes i would ponder rat traps baited with rotting fish or other things they'd like to stick their noses into... so perhaps mouse traps instead? not quite so extreme but perhaps they'd learn some caution? dunno... just spit-ballin' here... (i come by it naturally, Mom got kicked out of a class once for shooting spit balls)...

I planted some of my tomatoes and peppers in the garden. I have a bunch more tomatoes and peppers to get planted. I planted some fennel and parsley as well. I don't think I will have to worry about tomatoes this year. I have identified 30 or more plants. I'm going to be busy with the canning this year too.
