we have two nests of killdeer eggs/parents going right now. one out front with the yappy ones and the calmer ones out back in the fenced gardens near the strawberry patch (after she lost her first batch outside the fence).

oh yes, also heard the catbird for the first time today, but it could have been back for a bit because i've not been outside much the past several days.

Try to convince the parents ..

. to keep the babies Out of the Road!

Somewhere on TEG, and years ago, I have a picture of a catbird because they had a nest in a bush right in the middle of the gardens. It was the only time there that I knew of and there was no repeats. They were very, very noisy and I suppose that the location upset the parents.

it is sad that so many killdeer babies do get run over. :(

catbirds can make a lot of noise too, but they also have a very cheerful song that they make which is a repeat of each sound just once, but they will string all sorts of stuff together and it makes me laugh.

i'm glad to have all the birdies around (even the grackles).

oh, yes, the first hummingbird i saw was today too.
