-40 both C & F when I got up this morning. Poor dog; I'm grateful at least I don't have to go potty out there.
My pooches occasionally veer left into my shop when it's bad out. I have learned to put down pads. These stinkers have short hair and no underlayer so they cannot stand a cold rain. Not spoiled at all either.🤣

Even the birds around here are bundled up for 20F temps.

All good. For us 30f and rain starts a freak show because it is so rare and we do not know how to drive. The cities might come up with a road grader but certainly no snowplow. They can spread sand but I suspect golf course equipment gets borrowed too. We just take a snow day off. It's nothing like the negative numbers others are seeing. Is it possible to have a snow tornado? We get freezing rain that breaks the trees and knock down the power lines.
Yep. James Spann was tracking a tornado. A snow tornado would be crazy. The Alabama answer to the Yeti. I appear to be in some weather island of normal after the storms moved east.

DirtMechanic, it looks like you may be on the opposite side of Birmingham from Cullman County.

I should have a news source for that place. We now have a very dear and longtime friend who lives there. She grew up there and after the passing of her husband, returned to be near family. Elderly, I hope that she is within island.

cold, sunny, a little fresh snow. Mom wants potatoes (that she didn't put on her shopping list for when i was out Friday) for her veggie soup so i may be doing a little driving today - plus we have lasagna and fried rice to drop off for some people if they are in...

driving? We had some ice this morning and all schools are closed! Ever seen the Alabama sled? It's a toilet seat lid turned upside down so you have a ring to hold onto. All you need is a dog on a leash baby!

I know better than to gloat over others in situations like a lot of you are seeing “down in America”. From time to time i do like to roll out my “sorry you live in such a hostile environment line”.

We were talking about this yesterday, with family/friends thru-out we get plenty of “first hand”.

Up here this sort of thing is the norm and twice a year (spring and fall) i change the tires over to studs on the Wife's car. They make a huge difference. We have a lady friend in New Jersey and some in LA widnt know they made tires with steel studs in them! However, they are not a fix-all because each year we still have a population increase of folks from the south and it’s takes them a bit to “get up to speed” with winter driving.

Be safe down there.
Mike
