I planted water melons this year. Have only one come up yet but still early days. I have mine in pots tho. I will try the coffee filters next year tho that's a great idea. No clue as to how the melons are going to turn out up here in Alberta tho!!

Intresting stuff thank you. At the moment i have just the one shoot come through but my pumpkins exploded over night. I do have a layer of cling film over the top and its all staying damp the pumpkins are thriving on it but do you think I should take it off the tomatoes then?!

Here something I was told... if you have a fan blowing on them the stems get stronger. Is this true? I got a shoot today! Very happy just need to get and plant some more now I went and bought more pots :)
