Have chicken ~ do you agree with this ```

There's nothing wrong with a rooster, I just don't think it should be forced on the neighbors (speaking as a late sleeping neighbor myself!)

Hello! I'm very excited to be looking at houses- most my "must haves" have to be very practical, like price and a good roof, but yard space and sunlight are high on my list!

I think depending on the density of the city some regulations are a good idea- limited flock size, no roosters, certain distance from the nieghbor 's house, rat proof feed storage all make sense to me. But requiring expensive vet care or outlawing butchering seems ridiculous. One vet visit could...

I just don't like parsley's flavor very much (although i think it would grow much better in my zone than the celery!) The fresh parsley I've tried has always had a weird tough texture. Celery leaves are little softer, so I use them fresh and dried. I think parsley might be one of those "love it...

That's really cool! I have some neighbors with small kids but i only know them well enough to say "Hi" in passing. Must be cool to have a real community type neighborhood!

    RUNuts 2018 Garden thread (attempt)

What beautiful chickens! My city allows 4 birds, under certain conditions, if you have a paid permit... I'm willing to jump through the hoops even though I'm sure it'll take years and years to offset the cost of the coop with just 4 birds at a time- now to find a house with a yard that complies...

This is my first year trying it! I watched some video reviews on YouTube to try a find out more about it- I'm sorry to say I didn't find one person with anything good to say about it! Lol! I'm going ahead with a small patch just because I'm curious and had already bought the seeds, but I don't...

The marigolds and broccoli have germinated! Spent some time outside today and sowed sugar snap peas, red orach, strawberry spinach and some dwarf curly kale. Dad put in a request for extra broccoli plants, so I'll start another batch today. <3

A question about surface sowing indoors...

Cocona- I'll report my results, but at this point there have been enough screw ups on my end that if they don't come up I definitely can't blame the seeds, lol!

    Substitutions

I some times use sliced radishes in place of crackers- it's really good with savory flavors like cheese or hummus. (Wouldn't recommend it for peanut butter though!)

Started broccoli rabe, fennel (for the bulb), celeriac and marigolds today. The marigolds in particular are supposed to germinate quickly- always a plus in my book! Celeriac root is a long shot here, the cool part of our spring is so short, but I love dried celery leaves as an herb so even if it...

A question about surface sowing indoors...

Well, I ended up doing it about half and half between covered and uncovered, we'll see how it goes. Even if I don't get any germination I'll try them again next year- there were some issues with my heating mat, so there's really no telling if they'll come up or not. :idunno

That's what I'll do then! I'm hoping I can use the fruit as lemon in recipes- I like lemon, but I think it's fun to see how much you can reasonably put on the table from the yard. (And we're just a bit cool for most citrus!) I don't have the space to plant enough to sustain anyone, so for now...

A question about surface sowing indoors...

I saw that, but decided to trust the packet- I figure (hope) it might be more specific to the seeds I have. The seeds are small and flat like when you cut into an eggplant. And they can take up to 3 weeks to germinate, so it'll be a while before I can tell if I messed up :fl . I'm leaning...
