I'm trying it compost mixed with some garden soil spread over grass seed in about a 4x4 spot where weeds were growing and the dogs peed on it and killed it all. I have now 2 spots just waiting for the grass to show.

Wow didn't know potatoes were such a problem. I just get a couple old ones from the bag in the garage that started growing cut them up and plant them and dig them up when they are done and have a couple meals from them. Some make it some don't.

Mine is a mess at the end of the summer but the neighbors don't complain when my grand daughters are taking them squash, tomatoes and cucumbers. I agree, water and till until the plants get too big. The birds get some the bugs get some and I get some we all share and still have some for the neighbors.
