I grow mine in containers. My neighbor has those curved, concrete edgings and the mint grows in the circle. He has grass outside the circle and mows it. So, I don't know definitely how well the concrete edging contains the mint, but it seems to. Others use bricks, stones, etc.

Mine is in a container with chives and greek oregano. I have to keep my edibles surrounded by chicken wire or the squirrels, cats, geese, and rabbits eat/ruin them all.

I use hydrogen peroxide and if that doesn't do it, then tincture of iodine. Roses take so much work and the thorns can be a problem. I've given away a few of rose bushes because of how much work they are.
