It's good to see your grandsons learning from their grandpa. Those are special times.
Looks like you have some healthy hives going now.
Didn't your bees get hit hard last year? Maybe I'm thinking of someone else.
it was us. DH went into winter with 14 hives and ALL died. HE bought 10 queens with bees this spring. Dividing hives and capturing swarms he is now up to 24 :) He is HAPPY.

that's a lot of hives! so i guess he's not really going to retire as much as just change careers. :)

last winter was so long with such wide temperature swings i think that puts a lot of stress on hives not counting all the other issues going on with bees.

i hope he has a much better year ahead. :)

I love those pictures. They made me smile. What wonderful memories they are making.

In the winter there are stacks of hives, over wintering here where it is warmer. The bigger bee keepers load the bees up and move them southfor the winter.
