We did have a new record high on Tuesday, it has now cooled and we are now in more normal "Summer" weather. Daily windy conditions...

Smoky here this morning. Fires in Oregon — @Shades-of-Oregon , @Rhodie Ranch ? Very near your neighborhood yesterday, the interstate highway east of Portland was closed. I guess that the fire is under control now.

it hasn't really rained enough to keep the grass in full gear, but that is ok with me as then i can squeeze in a few more days between mowing. the temperatures are on the increase now but overnight we're still getting into the low 50sF. daytime temperatures in the mid-70sF and then heading up to the mid-80sF this week. no rain in the forecast until the middle of the week. a few days ago the forecast was for chances of rain for three days in a row. none of that happened (other than us being on the edge of a storm front for most of the day yesterday, it looked dark enough to rain but it didn't get to us). such is things. :)

We have had 3 mornings this year with temperatures above 60⁰f (16⁰C). They were with those 2 record high afternoons 4-5 days ago. I'm not sure that there were 3 mornings here at home, those were at a nearby airport and when you have WS people themselves commenting on the amount of asphalt and number of buildings holding heat in their location ... makes you wonder ;).

We haven't hit 80⁰ (27⁰C) the recent few days so nighttimes have cooled and the thermometer may drop below 50f (10C) yet this morning and for the next few mornings. Not at all unusual since we have just passed that "normal" low milestone of the Springtime. And now, Beyond Single digitS' C ... :)

Our higher than normal temperatures, but mostly the serious dryness, makes me wonder about the dryland grain farms nearby. Since so much local wheat and legumes are sold to the Middle East and China, limited supply must draw that concern into marketing negotiations. "will ya give me? ...$... Going once, going twice, sold!"

I've got an inch of rain practically every day, not yesterday. I think the rains have stopped for at least the next 10 days. We always have our summer drought, July, August and September. Bad years start earlier and last longer. Toss in 100 plus degrees and high humidity and you have the recipe for misery. LOL Hay is supposed to be for winter feeding, but I often feed in the heat of the summer because the grass is drying up. Grass is plentiful right now, sheep have full bellies every evening.

Airport had 52⁰f while nearest weather underground volunteer had 47⁰ and the next nearest 46⁰ (both, 8⁰C).
