I agree with you.
I have Goats and some Cattle and there manure has way less weed seed than Horse manure. Now on the other hand Horse manure is "hotter" and has more nitrogen in it than say a ruminate animal because they don't digest there feed as well as a ruminate. [or even poultry as far as...
I planted Longstanding Bloomsdale and cant complain seeds where up and out of the ground in about a week and a half and grew well.
They just started to bolt but I did get 4 pickings off the row.
Where you keeping the plant watered well?
Chris
I believe that you can grow a good amount of potatoes above ground as long as the potatoes have plenty of moisture, nutrition, and you keep them hilled.
I have always had fair to good luck planting the old fashion way [below ground] so I really never thought much about planting above ground but...
I'll have to try it out back were it is just a open field. I believe the the Hardware store in town rents them out real cheep. I will have to use some spray weed killer up around the shed.
Thanks catjac1975.

Believe it or not those potatoes are only about 8 weeks old I planted them around the first week of April. There 2 foot tall and starting to but. I just hope there's potatoes under there.

I prune every time I weed the tomato rows. I either steak or grow my tomatoes on a cattle panel trellis and I will prune off all suckers and leave only the main and secondary leader I've had very good results doing this and have had very health plants.
