I have been trying for some time to find out that this weed is, now what is it?
It will get to be about 10 foot tall if I let it.

Goats, huh? This stuff is horribly invasive at my place, as I can see it is at yours. I've heard it called horse weed, but I'm not sure of the proper name. Looks like it's time to get some goats and put them to work!

I got this name - Ambrosia trifida - by doing an image search using Schmije's name: horse weed.

The best id info I could find is this 3 page pdf: Nature Manitoba

What do you think? Schmije gets the prize?

I was thinking that I'd seen this weed but only down along the Palouse River or similar environments. Bingo! That's about where the USDA shows it around here: WA county level distribution . That was kind of rewarding even it it isn't what Chris is looking at ;).

There's a prize? Sweet! I suppose I'll have to share my prize with my old neighbor, Steve, because he's the one who gave me the name :) He didn't happen to mention the goats, though.

I've never been to Peoria.

Despite what might be said about me there!

But the game is not whether you lose or win a prize, Schmije. It's how it plays in Peoria . . .

Oh, sorry . . . I couldn't resist!

Steve :D

it may look like weeds to you ! I think its a pretty plant !!
It's a very pretty plant, but in a few months my eyes will itch until I want to dig them out with a spoon, all because that pretty plant wants to reproduce. But again, the goats love them, and they don't require any effort, so I'll let them stay...and break out the antihistamines. :)
