Well, yesterday after giving it much thought, I gave the chicken to my neighbor across the street that has more chickens. This chicken was sort of sad, being all alone. And it will be at least a month before I get chicks, and then another couple of months before I could introduce this chicken...
We
It didn't go from no chickens... we had to have 50' from the nearest neighbor' house. Which meant most city lots here are 50' or less, so that meant most of us couldn't legally have any chickens. They lowered the distance to 20' now, and the number of chickens is based on the size of your lot.
With the new zoning, we can have 24 chickens! But I have room for only six. And since it it just the two of us, six hens are plenty. Last time I was able to sell enough eggs to cover my feed cost! I was without chickens for about two years now.
Yes in December the Tucson City Council, after a five year battle, changed the zoning!
I am putting Dichondra, and a tiny green succulent, and some other ground cover between the stones. Hoping one of them will work in that area. I will probably put up some shade cloth over the area in the...
Well, it is Jan. 18th 20016 and I have started to rebuild Glenn Cottage Eggery!
Yesterday I put in a new patio area for watching Chicken TV.
I hope to put a bench much like this one in that area.
This morning I started putting my chicken run closest to the back door back together. And just...
Our mornings here are in the mid to high 20's!! Cherokee has so much energy in this cold weather that I have to play with him for about 30 minutes BEFORE we go for a walk! His tennis ball helps to get rid of some of his extra puppy energy.
Notice the garden is covered. Way too cold for my...
There go my hopes for him pulling me in a cart! He couldn't have been that tired! He was faking! We walk at least a mile every day. I bet he would let me pull him in a wagon.
Cherokee LOVES big plastic containers. I rinse them out really good and then he has the greatest time pushing them around the yard, picking them up and running with them. Throwing them in the air! He has the bestest time!
Been a while since I posted any Cherokee photos. He is now 11 months old. 29.75 inches at the shoulder, and at the last weigh in at the vet's office 8/26/15, he was 111.2, probably a few pounds heavier now.
He is now taller than me for sure!
He surprised me by being able to sit up!
And...
We have been ordering Cherokee's food from Chewy.com.
On their Facebook page they run a photo contest. I sent
them this photo in July.
And yesterday in the mail we got this from them.
We were really surprised to get such a nice gift! It is a hand painted portrait!
The real reason the last photo is blurry, is because my husband had just vacuumed behind his stereo equipment, and the camera kept doing an automatic focus on the "dust motes" in the air! Very aggravating to me! I had some good photos that were just toooo blurry, but had lots of bright flecks...
That is really nice!!! I so miss not having my chickens. But... there is a City Council meeting in Sept. And maybe, just maybe I will be able to rebuild my coop and have some chickens again!
